TUT Research Network History

TUT Research Network has been used as a model example how university IT management and departments can cooperate to create an efficient and secure way to conduct flexible networking and Internet related research.

2006 : The TUT Research Network concept was developed in cooperation between TUT IT Management and TUT Department of Communications Engineering. Originally the service was a cooperative networking and Internet research platform.

2008: The service was expanded to research groups from Faculty of Computing and Electrical Engineering.

2009: After good feedback from the users, the TUT Research Network concept was expanded to various departments and projects around whole TUT campus.

2011: TUT Research Network started co-operation with CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd, Aalto University, and Tampere Region Exchange (TREX) by creating Internet Testbed Finland.
